And so it begins!

My name is John Gacinski. I’m not a professional theologian.   I’ve never been to seminary and never will.   I have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and I’m a certified public accountant.

And none of that is important.

A while back, I felt God telling me that I should write something.   After much delaying under the guise of “maybe God will change His mind”, I’ve decided to get started.  My love of the Bible grows with each passing year so it made sense to me that whatever I write had to be based on the Bible.

The project is called “Have I not told you?”   The intent here is to talk about the Bible’s many teachings which can be applied to the lives of Christians and non-Christians.  By God’s grace, I have a publisher ilned up. While this book will be directed at believers, the Bible’s teachings are universal and it’s not the least bit hyperbolic to say that the world would be a far better place if we simply did what God tells us to do.

21st century Christianity is littered with the teachings of men and women who have seminary degrees and yet have seriously mishandled the word of God.   The church has been led astray by those who, as Jude put it, are waterless clouds and their messages are eagerly consumed by congregations filled with people with itching ear

I will spend a good deal of time recounting my journey with Jesus as we go through this but for now, let me say that I have been blessed by being in a solid church led by two strong men of God; men who are skilled and thoughtful expositors of Biblical truth.   I will consider this to be a success if I can display even a fraction of their wisdom. I am quite sure that I wouldn’t have learned and grown as much as I have if the Holy Spirit hadn’t led me to a small church in East Meadow eight years go.

Why do this?  Is it to make money or to make a name for myself in this Christian community.   Ha!  The answers are a resounding no!  I seriously doubt I’ll make a dime off of this and I don’t care.  I’m primarily doing this to leave something for my children, grandchildren and further-out descendants to learn from.  Part of my legacy, if you will. I did a lousy job pouring into my kids when they were young and I feel God is giving me a second chance to do that now.

Within the magnificent tapestry of Scripture, God has issued a series of teachings. Teachings on, among other things, what to do, what not to do, how to think, how to view and treat others.  As God, He is of course well within His rights to do so but I encourage you to not see His commands to be burdensome or a matter of God being a kill-joy.  Instead as our loving Creator, these commands are meant for our own good.   Following them is a huge step towards having our joy made complete in Jesus.

Maybe you’ll relate to some of the things I’ll talk about and if you don’t, you may know someone who can.  My life journey has been interesting to say the least and I’ve come to understand that God has orchestrated my life’s events to bring me to exactly where I am today.   Like Jacob, who referred to ” the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, the angel who has redeemed me from all harm” in Genesis 48:15-16, I realize that Jesus has always been with me, even during my decades in the wilderness.

Perhaps you won’t agree with everything I say here.   That’s ok, as long as we remember “in essentials, unity.   In nonessentials, liberty.  In all things, love”.

So here goes.  The plan – and you may know the saying “man plans and God laughs”- is to post a new “chapter” every two weeks or so and then when I’ve emptied myself of whatever creativity I have, put them into a book.     Please excuse my tendency to be verbose, as I never learned the art of being concise, and what will certainly at times be clumsy writing.   Please be charitable and keep in mind that I’m just a guy who loves Jesus, owes Jesus His life and feels he’s being obedient to his Master by taking this on.
